WHERE DOES YOUR
FAVOURITE CHIPPY COME FROM?
You can indulge in our delicious Fish & Chips knowing that it is not only good for you, but also good for the planet. At Pisces Take Away we're passionate about sustainability and transparency. We don’t only go the extra mile but go above and beyond to make sure that all parts of our business are sustainable and eco-friendly to our environment. All of our produce is sourced from the best local (where possible) and reputable suppliers, ensuring they meet our very high standards throughout the supply chain.
OUR FISH
Have you ever wondered where your Fish & Chips comes from? We love to be transparent and show the behind-the-scenes process of your fish coming off the boat, getting cleaned, graded in size & arriving at Pisces.
Our daily fish delivery to Pisces starts early in the morning while most of us are asleep. Fresh from the port in Peterhead – Scotland once agreed, it’s then sent down to us in special chilled transporters to our premises. We then prepare & fillet the fish to our requirements ready for you each day. This process while painstakingly time-consuming requires the highest of skills but essentially keeps us in control of the quality assurance and consistency.
All our Fish is only cooked when ordered so you have our guarantee it’s the freshest at all times. Our secret recipe batter, light fluffy and crispy and fried to perfection is what creates our delicious Fish & Chips!
Did you know all our fish is completely traceable? By using our longstanding relationships with our suppliers we have full transparency of our fish sourcing, from the very waters, the trawlers and boats, the time it was caught to the very moment it lands on shore.
We serve the highest grade of premium protein here at Pisces for you all to enjoy. When we say it's Cod, it's genuinely, unlike many who aren’t as transparent or honest.
We pride ourselves on using the very best premium Atlantic Cod, Scottish Haddock, and Dutch Plaice always. Rest assured you know you're always getting the best.
OUR CHIPS
We source our potatoes exclusively from local potato merchants, supporting local agriculture and ensuring the freshest produce. Our long standing trusted relationship with our supplier goes back as far as our grandparents which tells a story itself and has been built on the highest integrity and quality over the years. From years of experience and long-established ties to the very best farmers, we can guarantee the quality and traceability of our potatoes.
Once our potatoes arrive, our dedicated team member meticulously prepares the chips right here on the premises. We believe in the importance of freshness, so each day from 7am we begin the process of preparing our chips, by peeling, eyeing, and chipping our potatoes into chips ready for service. Our chips are always fried fresh to order in our state-of-the-art Frying range.
Our commitment to using local potatoes and preparing them in-house means you can enjoy a delicious, freshly made natural product with every order.
OUR BURGERS
Our burgers are freshly prepared in collaboration with our esteemed local butchers, Masseys of Heswall. By partnering with these trusted professionals, we ensure that our meat is of the highest standard and sourced locally.
Our burgers are crafted into our 6oz patties from a prime blend of Knuckle Chuck and Sirloin, chosen for their rich flavour and perfect texture. This combination results in a juicy, flavourful burger that stands out in taste and quality.
When you enjoy one of our burgers, you're not just savouring a meal—you're supporting local businesses and tasting the best that the Wirral has to offer. You can build your burger exactly how you like it using a selection of different ingredients, salads, and sauces. All our burgers are cooked on our hot plate griddle and served in a lightly toasted Seeded St.Pierre Brioche.
OUR PACKAGING
We use eco-friendly and sustainable packaging for all of our dishes. Our bespoke packaging is made from recycled food-grade cardboard and printed using vegetable inks. We work with a local printing company to ensure that we are doing our part for the environment.
Being pioneers of the new trends and industry-changing demands we have managed to remove 99.9% of all plastics from our business. Not only are they bad for the environment but also one of the worst inventions in our opinion, as it degrades the product that goes in it, thus reducing your experience.
Our food-grade cardboard is perfect for our Fish & Chips, it makes sure that your food stays fresh and delicious. When having your chippy from us, you can be confident that you are making a sustainable choice for your Fish & Chips while also enjoying high-quality packaging that keeps your food fresh and tasty.
We are committed to providing our customers with the best possible experience, and our eco-friendly packaging is just one way we do that.
OUR OIL
We only use Sustainable NEODA APPROVED OILS Palm Vegetable Oil when frying. There is plenty more information available from the NEODA website as to why we use this, but essentially it mirrors all of our values for protecting the environment and allows us to produce the best Fish & Chips.
Our oils go through an extensive and rigorous management program daily. Clean fresh oil is the most important when frying. Our oil is cleaned and filtered daily using a high-tech state-of-the-art filtration system. Our oil is filtered down through 3 stages removing all particles down to as small as 100Microns. This removes all particles that occur naturally from frying foods and removes all the burnt carbon to microscopic levels. We are one of only very few in the entire country to have invested in a new oil ceramic device using specially formulated ceramic beads that help break down carbon molecules and enhance the life of our oil. This means we are able to reduce our oil consumption and absorption into our food. Overall giving you a healthier and pure product.
Then when it is time to decant our oil and dispose of it, our oil is then taken away by our accredited supplier and refined into biodiesel.
